Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points, tight and hyperirritable spots within a muscle, can be the hidden cause behind a wide range of discomfort. They often lead to headaches, jaw tension, and neck pain, as well as lower back pain, tennis elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Many people mistakenly attribute the pain they feel in joints such as the shoulder, wrist, hip, knee, or ankle to arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, or ligament injuries, when the true source is often these persistent trigger points.
The impact of trigger points goes beyond localized muscle pain. They can produce a surprising variety of symptoms, including dizziness, earaches, sinus pressure, nausea, heartburn, palpitations, groin discomfort, and numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. In some cases, chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia may have their roots in longstanding myofascial trigger points.
Addressing these points through techniques like targeted massage therapy, stretching, and myofascial release can relieve pain, restore mobility, and improve overall function.
