New Client Information & What to Expect
Massage therapist greets new client before massage session. Connective Integration Massage Therapy by Suzan Walker LMT 2026

Before Your Appointment

All new-client appointments must be secured with a valid credit card.

Please complete your online client assessment and intake forms the same day you book. Completing your forms in advance allows more of your scheduled appointment time to be devoted to your session rather than paperwork.

Please carefully review your appointment confirmation page, which includes directions, appointment details, office guidelines, policies, and links to your intake forms.

First-time clients are asked to arrive approximately 10 minutes early so there is time to settle in and briefly review your health history and session goals.

Appointments begin promptly. If you arrive late, your session may be shortened so the following appointment can remain on schedule.

Depending on the service selected, appointments may last up to three hours.

Preparing for Your Visit

Please silence your cell phone before your session so you can fully relax and disconnect.

You are encouraged to leave unnecessary jewelry at home. If you wear contact lenses and may wish to remove them, please bring your own contact case and solution.

Complimentary water or herbal tea is available upon request.

The office is designed as a quiet, private environment and is not suitable for children. Please arrange childcare before your appointment.

Only the scheduled client is permitted in the treatment room unless the client is a minor or requires an interpreter, caregiver, or other necessary assistance.

Professional Conduct & Safety

Massage therapy is a professional healthcare and wellness service. Appropriate conduct and professional boundaries are required at all times.

Sexual comments, sexual requests, advances, harassment, threatening behavior, verbal abuse, unwanted physical contact, or other inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.

If inappropriate behavior occurs, the session may be ended immediately without refund. Serious or repeated conduct violations may result in refusal of future services.

Draping, Privacy & Consent

You will always be given privacy to undress and dress.

Professional draping is required for every massage session. Only the area currently being worked on will be uncovered, and appropriate coverage will be maintained throughout the session.

You may leave your undergarments on if you prefer. In some sessions, removing certain garments may allow more effective access to areas such as the lower back, hips, gluteal muscles, and legs. Your comfort and consent always come first.

Breast health massage or breast lymphatic work is available only when clinically appropriate and specifically requested. Verbal consent and a signed, dated consent/release form are required before this work is performed.

What to Expect During Your Session

When you arrive, we will briefly review your health assessment, current concerns, and goals for the appointment. This is also your opportunity to discuss pressure preferences, areas you would like addressed, areas you would like avoided, and any questions or concerns.

You will then be shown to the treatment room. I will step out and close the door so you can undress and position yourself on the table privately.

Most massage sessions begin face down, or prone, although positioning may be modified based on your health, comfort, mobility, pregnancy, pain level, or the type of bodywork being performed.

Your session is customized to your individual needs rather than following a rigid routine.

Communication is always welcome. Please let me know at any point if you would like:

  • A change in pressure

  • A change in positioning

  • More or less warmth

  • A break

  • Water

  • To use the restroom

  • An area avoided

  • The music adjusted

  • The session modified or stopped

You never need to remain uncomfortable simply because the session has already started.

Your Comfort

The treatment room includes soft lighting and calming music to support a quiet, relaxing environment.

Blankets, table heat, bolsters, and foot coverings are available for comfort. Please let me know if you are too warm, too cool, or need additional positioning support.

Depending on the service, massage lotion, cream, or oil may be used.

Aromatherapy is always optional. Please inform me before your session if you have allergies, asthma, migraines, scent sensitivities, or sensitivity to essential oils so appropriate accommodations can be made.

Appointment Time

Your scheduled appointment includes the time necessary for consultation, assessment, positioning, and the hands-on portion of your service.

Arriving late or arriving without completed intake information may reduce the amount of hands-on time available during your appointment.

Thank you for helping me maintain a quiet, respectful, professional environment where your session can remain focused on your comfort, health, and individual needs.
