Cupping Therapy

MediCupping

For centuries, people across many cultures have turned to cupping therapy as a way to support healing, ease pain, and restore balance. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), cupping has long been used to improve circulation and remove stagnation in the body. Other cultures also embraced cupping, often using materials like bamboo, clay, or even animal horn to create suction on the skin. Traditionally, practitioners used fire or water inside the cups to form the seal, helping to draw tension and toxins out while promoting overall wellness.

Today, I use a more modern approach called MediCupping, which brings the same healing tradition into the present. Instead of fire or manual suction, I use a mechanical cupping machine with glass or plastic cups. This method allows me to create gentle, controlled suction that feels comfortable while still giving all the benefits of traditional cupping. Upon request I will do more of a more stationary,  manual cupping with magnets.

How It Works

During a MediCupping session, cups are placed on the skin and gently lifted using rhythmic suction from the machine. This light decompression creates space in the tissues, encourages blood and lymph to flow more freely, and helps the body naturally release built-up tension. Unlike traditional cupping, this method allows me to control the suction carefully—I never use high suction for long periods of time, keeping your session safe and relaxing.

Benefits of MediCupping

Many people find MediCupping helpful for:

  • Relieving sore, tight muscles and easing pain

  • Encouraging lymphatic drainage, which helps reduce swelling and puffiness

  • Supporting post-operative care, softening scar tissue, and reducing fluid build-up

  • Improving circulation and tissue mobility

  • Providing relief for chronic conditions like sciatica or joint stiffness

  • Offering deep relaxation and stress relief

  • Using cups in a gua sha-like motion for gentle scraping to boost circulation

Safety & Comfort

It’s normal to have some temporary pink or purple marks where the cups were placed—this is part of how cupping works and usually fades within a few days. I avoid placing cups over sensitive areas, open wounds, or irritated skin. Clients with clotting issues or fragile skin should check with a healthcare provider before trying cupping.

Most importantly, your comfort is always my priority. I use gentle, controlled suction and adjust each session based on your needs.

Why Try MediCupping?

MediCupping brings together the ancient wisdom of cupping and the precision of modern tools. It’s a safe and versatile therapy that can help with pain, circulation, healing, and relaxation—all in one session. Whether you’re looking for support after surgery, relief from chronic tension, or simply a calming experience, MediCupping can help your body feel lighter, freer, and more balanced.
