Why I No Longer Offer Gift Certificates

Gift certificate services are not available.

I'm going to be completely honest: I do not like gift certificates, and I no longer offer them.

Over the years, I have found that gift certificates often create more problems than they solve. While they may seem like a simple and thoughtful gift, many go unused, get misplaced, or sit for months or even years before someone finally tries to schedule an appointment.

Then comes the task of tracking down who purchased the gift certificate, who received it, whether it has been used, and how it should be accounted for. It takes time, creates additional bookkeeping, and often results in frustration for everyone involved.

Some therapists love offering gift certificates, and that's perfectly fine. For me, they simply do not fit the way I choose to run my business.

The good news is there is a simple alternative. If you would like to give the gift of massage, you can schedule an appointment online for your loved one. Before doing so, please make sure they actually enjoy receiving massage therapy and are willing to attend their appointment. Missed appointments, no-shows, or last-minute cancellations are still subject to my regular policies and are not eligible for reimbursement simply because the session was purchased as a gift.

I also do not provide gift certificates, complimentary sessions, promotional giveaways, raffle prizes, silent auction donations, charity packages, business promotions, or other free massage services. This is a business policy that has developed through years of experience. While I appreciate being considered, I have found that these types of promotions rarely create long-term client relationships and are not something I choose to participate in.

As a side note, I also believe that massage therapists, especially those who are new to the profession, should carefully consider the value of their time, education, and skills before giving away services for free. Our work has value.

My business stays consistently busy, and I'd rather focus my time and energy on providing excellent care to the clients who have chosen to invest in their health and well-being.

Thank you for understanding and respecting my policies. If you would like to gift a session to someone special, the best option is to schedule an appointment for them and make sure it's something they truly want and will enjoy.
