Respecting Boundaries in Therapeutic Massage and Energy Dynamics: Trauma-Informed Care Is Not Sex Therapy

Building mutual respect and trust in a therapeutic setting through trauma-informed care and professional boundaries.

Over the years, I have become highly aware of the difference between clients seeking legitimate therapeutic care versus individuals attempting to recreate fetish, control, pain-based stimulation, power exchange, or sexualized dynamics within a professional massage setting.

Though I offer massage therapy services to clients from many different backgrounds and lifestyles, including members of the BDSM/kink community, yet I do not provide sexual services, fetish services, domination/submission dynamics, “happy ending” services, tantric sexual services, or BDSM play within my massage business.

Unfortunately, this is an issue many experienced massage therapists encounter but rarely discuss openly. Some individuals intentionally seek out therapeutic massage environments because they are attempting to access fetish-oriented dynamics, aggressive stimulation, domination-based interactions, or emotionally charged energetic exchanges at significantly lower rates than what those services would cost in their appropriate professional settings.

This behavior will not be tolerated. Therapeutic massage should never be used to blur professional boundaries, manipulate power dynamics, or seek sexual gratification.

As someone who personally understands BDSM dynamics, consent culture, and power exchange, I recognize these behaviors quickly and take professional boundaries extremely seriously. Ethical BDSM, kink work, or tantric services involve informed consent, negotiation, clearly defined agreements, legal considerations, and compensation structures entirely separate from licensed massage therapy.

Clients should understand that they are paying for my professional therapeutic massage and holistic care only. The rates posted on my website reflect therapeutic massage services — not fetish services, domination, erotic experiences, or sexualized interactions. Those are entirely different industries, environments, expectations, and price structures.

If I feel that a client is attempting to sexualize the session, redirect the therapeutic relationship into a kink dynamic, seek gratification through pain-based work, test professional boundaries, manipulate energetic dynamics, or engage in inappropriate behavior, the session will end immediately and without compensation. There is zero tolerance for this type of behavior. Clients who violate professional boundaries or attempt to engage in inappropriate dynamics will be banned from services permanently.

My office is a professional holistic environment focused on therapeutic massage, nervous system support, pain management, relaxation, trauma-informed care, and integrative wellness services. Respect for professional boundaries, safety, ethics, and mutual respect are non-negotiable.

For those this applies to: I expect you to be respectful, maintain appropriate professional behavior, and act accordingly at all times. If you cannot respect those boundaries, do not book an appointment.
